Homeopathy is a system of medicine that works by using a small dose of a substance to help stimulate the body’s natural healing process and restore balance. It is an effective, safe, gentle and holistic treatment. Homeopathic remedies are made out of plants, minerals and other organic substances.

Homeopathy was developed by a German physician, Samual Hahneman, in the early 1800’s.
It is based upon a fundamental law of nature, known as the Law of Similars. The symptoms caused by a substance when it is administered to a healthy person, are the very symptoms which that substance can cure, when administered to a sick person. Simply put, when a substance can cause it, it can cure it! Like Cures Like. An example of this is the red onion. Anyone who has sliced onions in the kitchen, should be familiar with the aftermath. In homeopathy, we use Allium Cepa, the red onion, to treat cases of typical common cold or allergy, accompanied by copious, watery, burning nasal discharge, watery eyes and violent sneezing.

In Homeopathy we focus on the whole person, using an individualised approach to treat each patient. The mental, emotional and physical symptoms, as well as previous health issues and family history are of great importance and essential in selecting the correct remedy, tailor-made for each patient. We treat the individual, not the illness. It aims to not suppress the symptoms of the patient, but to address the underlying issues which are causing the symptoms in order to bring about a cure.

The technique of making homeopathic remedies involves a series of dilution and potentisation, which gives the medicine its therapeutic properties. This highly diluted nature of the remedies means that they are non-toxic and safe to use.
