Auricular (Ear) Acupuncture

One of the modalities that I use on a daily basis with patients is auricular acupuncture. I often incorporate this into a standard acupuncture treatment.

One of the reasons I love using it is that it can provide immediate relief for acute and chronic pain, without the risk of addiction!!!!

Auricular Acupuncture, also known as ear acupuncture, involves inserting needles or ear seeds into specific points on the ear. These points map the body. Stimulating these points is thought to promote healing in other areas of the body.

Some health conditions successfully treated by auricular therapy include:
Addictions like smoking, drugs, alcohol
Allergies
Anxiety
Acute or chronic pain
Assisting weight loss
Depression
Fibromyalgia
Headaches
Insomnia
IBS
Low back pain
Migraines

In 1957, Dr Paul Nogier in Lyons, France, first represented his observations of the somatotopic correspondence of the ear. He is considered the “Father of Auriculotherapy”. He originated the concept of the inverted fetus map on the external ear. He began his life-long study after observing scars on the ears of the patients who reported being treated for sciatica by a “Chinese layperson”.
