Battlefield Acupuncture (BFA)

Yes, it does exist, and the military is using it to fight troop’s pain.
The U.S. military has added acupuncture to its arsenal for fighting opioid abuse in the ranks.

BFA, involves placing five small needles or ear seeds on the surface of the ear at specific points. It has a “central effect” on the nervous system and the cingulate gyrus, an area of the brain that processes pain.
This essentially prevents the pain from surfacing.

BFA can provide immediate relief for acute and chronic pain, without the risk of addiction.

Other benefits include that it is simple to administer and easily transportable. With BFA, service members can continue to participate, unimpaired, in work and life.

BFA was developed by Air Force Dr. (Col.) Richard Niemtzow in 2001.

I use BFA almost on a daily basis in my clinic. I find it very useful in conjunction with my normal acupuncture protocol, excellent for acute and chronic pain.
Patients love it!!!
